Wayne Tanswell – Traditional Signwriter

Wayne Tanswell is a traditional signwriter, gold-leaf gilder and lettering artist.

His work also includes; sign writing workshops, private commissions, public art projects, lectures, demonstrations worldwide.

His work includes sign writing hotels, pubs and traditional shop fascias. His private commissions include work on Chris Rea’s video “Go Your Own Way”, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and the Museum of Royal Worcester.

In 1995 Wayne was sponsored by quality brush manufacturer A.S. Handover, to make the film “Learn Signwriting Volume One” on VHS video.

As a lettering artist, Wayne’s solo exhibitions have been held in Cambridge, London, and his home county of Suffolk. His art consists of original quotations and mixed fonts, merging traditional sign writing and art with a contemporary flare. His exhibitions and art have been featured on TV and in national newspapers. Wayne has recently started to teach hand lettering at Central St Martins UAL, London.
